The Royal Canvas Painting Parlor

Can you believe it's Thanksgiving this Thursday? And the forecast for this last-week-of-November holiday, looks nice at 73 degrees. While the rest of the country is probably feeling a bit more in the holiday spirit because of the cooler weather, it isn't that hard to feel a little bit of Christmas cheer with the plethora of holiday music blaring from department store speakers, festive lights hanging from trees around town, and all the fun projects and crafts places like The Royal Canvas Painting Parlor are offering to patrons.

This weekend AG and I stopped by the shop to take an artful approach to our holiday decorating. The Royal Canvas is a hands-on, paint-it-yourself art class that lets even the novice artist feel like Van Gogh. Everyone gets to do a standard (some original art, from one of the staff members at the shop) design, which the participants can paint themselves with the help of an instructor. We brought a bottle of wine and some snacks too, which made it even more fun.

It would be a fun date night, and would make great bridal/couples shower. Not only would you get to hang out with your friends, but at the end of the night you'll get to walk away with an original art piece you created.

Give Cassie a call to book your event or reserve a spot. Tell her we sent you. :)

Enjoy some photos.

P.S. Don't laugh at us, we weren't exactly born artists.

Look what she had hanging in the shop. How sweet!

That's Gina, our instructor, prepping the canvases. She was awesome.

They had dozens of cool art. Wouldn't that Spanish-tile-inspired piece be a fabulous guest book art, just like the one below?

Picks of the Week

There's a photographer out there for everyone. Whether you're style is unconventional, artistic, traditional or documentary, San Antonio does not disappoint. We know dozens who are truly good at what they do. Give one a call, tell them a little bit about yourself, and drop us a line and tell us who and why you went with that photographer. We'd love to know.

Happy Friday!
